Leslie Scher, O.D.

Optometrist

Dr. Leslie Scher joined the professional eye care team at Coral Gables Eye Care in January 2022, with a specialized interest in providing specialty contact lens care, myopia control for pediatric patients and comprehensive vision services. A Miami native, Dr. Scher is proud to serve the community in which she was raised. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the Florida State University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry.

Dr. Scher is actively involved in Optometry and professional leadership. She serves as Secretary of the Miami-Dade Optometric Physicians Association (MDOPA) and as Secretary of Women in Eyecare (WiE). She is a Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Lions’ Club International Opening Eyes Program, where she performs comprehensive eye exams on the athletes at local and state games. She is also a 2025 graduate of the American Optometric Association’s Leadership Institute and a longstanding member of the AOA.

A passionate advocate and mentor, Dr. Scher supports the future of Optometry by mentoring students interested in the field through the AOA’s Eye Opener Sessions program. She also serves as a mentor for Women of Tomorrow, a program that matches at-risk young women with professionals to develop leadership skills and personal growth. Dr. Scher has spoken locally, nationally, and internationally on topics related to myopia management and specialty contact lenses.

Outside of practice, she enjoys studying wine and spending time with her husband and her rescue dog, Beau.
